Grand Cape York 4 Day Tour
DAY 1: Fly low level to Cooktown over the World Heritage rainforest to join the 4 hour Cooktown discovery tour. Lunch is served after the tour on the banks of the Endeavour River. We then fly low level, over 900kms of the coast and beaches of Cape York, to Bamaga. Overnight at Bamaga.
DAY 2: We catch the early boat to Thursday Island to join the cultural tour of the Island. We then motor back across the Torres Straits to join a 4WD tour through the Lockerbie scrub to Frangipani Beach where we begin our walk on the Top of Australia. Following the walk, we fly across the Cape to the mouth of the Wenlock River and onto Weipa, where we have lunch and spend a few hours looking around Australia’s most northern mining community. From Weipa we fly down the western side of Cape York to Karumba. Overnight at Karumba.
DAY 3: We fly from Karumba low level across the Gulf of Carpentaria to Lawn Hill. The day is spent canoeing through the magnificent gorges. Overnight at Adels Grove which is situated approximately 20 minutes 4WD from the gorges. Dinner will be a BBQ under the stars.
DAY 4: After breakfast we depart Lawn Hill and head for Undara Lava Tubes. Lunch will be ready for us when we land at Undara. After lunch we join a 2 hour environmental and historic tour of the Lava Tubes conducted by the Savannah Guides. We then fly across Cape York to the Atherton Tablelands, Mareeba and down through the Barron Gorge for landing back in Cairns.
DEPARTS: Cairns Airport on the first Tuesday of each month from April to October
Tour subject to minimum passenger numbers.
