for the world's largest group of coral reefs. The Great Barrier Reef
is listed by the World Heritage Trust as a protected site and is therefore managed
by the Great Barrier Reef Marine Authority (GBRMPA) to ensure that
its beauty is maintained and protected for many years to come...
The
Great Barrier Reef waters lays claim to the world's most varied marine habitats.
With the abundance of marine life. From the the Giant Black Marlin, varied species
of corals, every size and species of marine life and the varied colours of the reef's
fish and other marine life. Visitors are astounded by the limitless colour combinations
that the Great Barrier Reef has to offer. The largest of the world’s 552 World
Heritage Areas. The Great Barrier Reef covers 347 000 km and there are more than
2800 catalogued reefs in the coral reef chain.
Presently a feasibility study is being undertaken to evaluate the impact and value of a joint underwater resort and research centre design to educate tourists how we can live and work within the Great Barrier Reef environment without impacting on it.
